Ok peeps, here is my next dilema. In restoring the old 1980 300SD Turbo Diesel, there were a set of unused, not hooked up, and busted fog lamps. I decided to fix them and hook them back up. The original wires that went to the back of the lamps were wrapped around the front bumper shocks and taped off. After unwinding the wires I discovered 2 wires per harness for each fog lamp. When I removed the fog lamp, I notice only one wire coming out of the fog lamp. So, if 2 wires go to a fog lamp, and the fog lamp only has one coming out of it, where does the additional wire per fog lamp go? My best guess is one wire comes off the lamp socket, goes out the back of the lamp housing and connects to the hot wire from the harness and the additional wire is the neutral which somehow connects to the housing? I am attaching pictures of the original fogs. I know they are butt ugly but they are being restored so don't mind the UGLY!
RE: Hooking up Original Fog Lights in my 80' 300SD
ok well i just bought a set of aftermarket ones. I then took a voltmeter to the wires and got no voltage after turning the fog lights on from the dial inside the car. Is there a relay that may be bad if all the wires appear to be correct?

I don't see a relay in my wiring diagrams.Maybe the
fog light switch needs some attention.I'm doing the
same thing as we speak and replacing my smashed fog lights.[:)]
I don't mean to dig up this old topic again, but I have similiar problem to Benztiller. I have the wiring, with no fogs. The stock fog lights must have 2 wires correct? Are these stock lights Hella's? Any good source for these? Since I don't have harnesses, frames, bulbs etc. I don't really know what I need to install some fogs.
In a related topic, where are good sources to purchase LED bulbs? The only place I can find are the local chain parts stores, and I've never heard of the brands they carry.

I just used some cheap drivings lights I had laying around to replace the ones that were smashed on it when I got it. I think they were Hella's but they may have been Bosch ??? I had to drill new holes because the bracket holes on the cheapies were different than the stock ones.
