I just bought a 83 300 SD. I have been a diesel fan for years ( currentlt drive an 03 Jetta TDI ). I have been interested in MB's for a while now. I have a friend that has a few of them. I found one the other day that seemed too good to be true. I bought it for $850, and have found nothing but problems with it since I got it home.
1) I was told the passenger side A arm was bad. When I got it home it was completely disconnected. Im baffled on this one. The thing that looks like a sway bar coming out of the body is disconnected from the arm ( looks like it could be damaged ) and the shock is disconnected. I dont know if the guy just had the bolts fall out, and assumed it was bad, or tried to fix it, and just gave up. I can post some pics later.
2) barely anything works....No dash lights...no buttons for the seat adjustments....back windows dont work....sunroof doesnt work...engine hesitates a little...cranks a few times and then starts and sounds good once running.
Basically the car was really beat on. Most of the woodgrain is broken, and many parts are missing. The previous owner told me that the engine and trans are solid, but the car needs TLC. Im not a mechanic, but have lots of experience with muscle cars, but this is totally different. Can somone out there help?
