W114 floor protection

Hello friends. I have one more question about a 1973 Mercedes w114

Another thing I noticed is that under the carpet there is a material applied to the floor. Can you tell me what this material is? Like a hard rubber band. I was suspicious that it was a patched floor, but it seems original to me

It's some sort of patch / goop. could be sound insulation. Ask the seller. Not original. (IMHO). Take an ice pick or small screwdriver and stab the floor all over the place. If it goes through then it's all rusty. Also look at the car from the underside. And look in the trunk under the rubber mat.

What state is the car in? Got more pics or a link to an ad?

Yup, it's original. It is a polyvinyl type coating. Real PITA to remove. Good stuff 40 years ago but its main fault is once the surface has been damaged it collects water and promotes rust.

As Scoot noted, check the surface for any spots which have "bubbled" up for rust. Use an ice pick or pointed probe.

Guys, this is already one of the best forums I've ever attended. Very receptive and lots of valuable information! Many thanks to everyone for the answers! I've separated more images of the vehicle in question. I would love your opinion. I will post here and also in the post on the panel.
