W111 Brake and other questions!

Hey all

As you can all tell I'm new to this so if I do anything I shouldn't or this is In the wrong place please pull me up.

So a few months ago I bought a finnie I believe it to be a 64 I'm not sure how to read the plates so any help with that would be great as this is my first benz.

My car has a remote brake booster and my first of many questions to come is, is there a model above or below that has a all in one master and brake booster that will fit? A straight swap out would be awesome but I know it's not going to happen and I'm not scared of fabrication.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and there is plenty more questions to come

W111 Brake and other questions!

@rwd4evr has a 63 with a remote brake booster and a 64 with an all-in-one. Perhaps he can help.

My 63 has the remote booster with single circuit brakes. My understanding is that later cars (65?) have dual circuit with it all mounted on the firewall. Converting from one to the other requires fabrication. Plus you probably have a RHD drive car so everything might be a bit different because of that also.

But since you are asking about this, why do you want to do the switch? I would be more interested in the single circuit to dual circuit upgrade, but that maybe is just me...

Thank you for your reply guys.

Oh so it's a completely different system? I was more trying to tidy up the engine bay and get it in one but if it's a full system swap I can live with the remote booster.

Hi mate, the firewall is different between cars that have the remote booster and the later combined booster/master cyl. I can fabricate too, but when my remote booster died it was easier to get a VH44 booster and make alternate brackets than try to change the firewall, which would require pulling out the dash and wiring so you did not set fire to it.
So, you will just have to either put up with the looks!
Cheers, Drew
