Steering wheel downgrade

Hello ,
I am buying a 1974 W114 280
Like all post 1973 face lift cars it has the rubber wheel like the R107.

I know the steering column changed , but would really like to downgrade to the old style wheel with the chrome horn ring.

Is that doable without major surgery ?

Cheers
Zohar

I think it is quite doable. I think it actually should be an easy swap.

I prefer the POR-15 stuff but J-B Water Weld works and is probably easier to find. The working time of the J-B is shorter. 15- 25 minutes depending on temperature, humidity, etc.

Same cure time.

One of these days I'm going to try it on my dash. Don't have high hopes for success as it is not flexible (as opposed to the 45 year old foam and vinyl which is on there now) Just going for the visual effect..

Thanks @Fonzi - any idea how? Will it require a custom adapter?

No. I'm pretty sure both are 15mm spline. @dgosh28 had a 1974 450slc with an older style steering wheel on it, like that if a w114/115 or w108 car.
