Smile W113 Mercedes Benz 280SL, 1969

Can someone please answer the following question?

Is it possible to have a convertible soft-top and a hardtop at the same time and have the 3rd seat option installed??
I always thought when the back seat is present, the soft-top cannot be installed. Is it true?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

W113 Mercedes Benz 280SL, 1969 and in the chassis no. (11304412005422) is written 2 seats in front and one rear.

Thank you Scoot for your answer.
The seller I am planning to purchase the car insists that a soft-top is possible to be installed even-though the third seat behind is available.
Currently the car has only hard top and wants to give me the sot-top assembly (frame+canvas) to install it myself.

Can you confirm it cannot be installed?

“California Coupe” model, so named because it is fitted with a detachable hardtop but not with a soft top.

"california coupe that has back seat no soft top compartment"
