WTB 300SEL 6.3

I'm in the market for a 6.3.

Also looking for a 450SEL 6.9 but thats another matter.

For the 300SEL 6.3 I'm looking for a project car I can bring back to life. I live in Vermont but I'm willing to travel.

If you hear of anything or know anyone who has one that needs work and at a fair price please let me know.

Thank you.

I had a 6.3 for many years, most fun car and I loved it. Worst car imaginable cause EVERYthing on it broke. Parts carried 6.3 numbers but were the same parts for all non-6.3 models of the series.

Your project will cost a TON of money but I hope you succeed. Good luck.

Hey thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to keep that in mind when I'm sourcing parts.

6.9 is MUCH more affordable and don't be scared off by all the horror stories on the suspension. It is actually a very reliable system. Granted it can cost a pretty penny fixing a neglected system but the same could be said for the 6.3 air suspension.

I have to say my 6.3 is one of my favorite cars. I owned one many years ago and sold it because I didn't like the color and always knew I would buy another one. The current one was purchased about 4 years ago. The air suspension is the beauty of the ride but it can be costly to get it right. About 95% of the time it's the air valves that leak. They can be rebuilt for about $600 each x 4. The air bags last along time but if they need to be replaced about $350 x 4. My 300sel 4.5 has been in the family about 35 years. I replaced the air bags and valves about 30 years ago and it stays up for months. Other wear items such as brake pads, calipers, discs, belts, hoses, filters are no more expensive than other Mercedes of the same era. A lot of the trim items such as the garnish molding around the windshield and doors is NLA. I'm sure you are aware to buy the best you can afford. If you have not found the m-100.co website I suggest you check it out. There's a wealth of information and willing knowledgeable folks to help you work on these cars. Another good site is 600airsuspension.com. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Have you considered buying a nicely priced shell and replacing the engine with something as big, but modern? You can find a Benz V8 on eBay for surprisingly low prices these days.

Another option you have is going totally reliable and affordable (Chevy small block LS2). Don't tell anyone I said that

Where in VT are you, BTW?
