issue with front carb

hello all. I have been working on the carbs for a while and they seem to be coming along, however I notice that the gas doesn't go into the front carb like a spray as in the back carb, it seems to come in more as drops, kind of like a slow steady pour, I took them apart a while back and soaked them for a few days in a degreaser and cleaned them well. i also changed all gaskets, seals ect. no idea whats going on. anyone? anyone? lol
thanks, jimmy

Hi Jimmy. What brand / type of carbs are you working with?

The spray you talk about... Is this the accelerator pump? Or one of the other sources of fuel?

That sounds like the accelerator pump nozzle to me. As you push the throttle down, a spray should come from the accelerator pump, but if the seal is bad (common for the original leather seal to fail), it will need to be replaced. The blue neoprene seal that you get in the rebuild kit is not as good as the original leather and seemed to fit loosely in my case.

I used a guitar string to push into the brass nozzel and it helped to clear out mine when it had the same symtoms. Fuel with ethanol can cause these build ups of sludge if the engine sits with out running for a while.

Yes. When I'm doing something new to me that isn't common sense and haven't seen a video, I try to make one usually. I never got those bastards working right on that car. I think the car may have had engine problems with tons of blow by. I never did a compression check on it and really should have. I drove it around the block once, mostly downhill.
