I guess I am not spending enough time online....getting behind here.
Tires are 185/70s R13. So thats a big part of the issue, too small.
I have been told here that 114 and 115 have 14" steel wheels that will fit, so I will move towards those, when I get round to it. And we got plenty of 114s and 115s in Chile.
Yup, your all right, cruising at 4000rpms, everything seems to work just fine - I am just not so used to those high revs. But it really doesn't seem to mind a bit..
Alex, I have 2 cars, I dont have the 300 from 1965 - wish I did, you make 'em sound pretty good-. No air suspension on mine. VIN attached.
1 of my cars is the 1965 220SE coupe, which is original and decent. But is pretty far from a race car ;-0
And the other is the indestructible, long suffering, daily driver w126 sedan 300SE from 1986.
This morning's battle was figuring out how to install a 3 point seat belt for the kiddy seat in the back seat, without doing any surgery.... Turns out the seats pop out with 2 tiny nuts accessed from the trunk, the rest is tabs n slots, comes apart easily. 1 point of fixation on the right rear shock absorber bolt, run the seat belt up through the speaker hole, and everything thing else connects to the seat supports below the lower seat cushion. Works just like Stuttgart.
Gotta get the next generation enthused about these cars while they are still young....
