Fergusson, I have two of these cars, both with the 3.5. I have the same exact problem on one of the cars! Although my throttle sticks even when the car is cold. If you were to take off the air cleaner and get to the intake orifice, you will see that there are about 5-6 little pulleys and wires that have almost no purpose. They are there because the car is German... why have 5 pulleys to accomplish a task that takes a wire... I don't know.
You will find that these pulleys need to be oiled. Go from the pedal to the intake and oil every single point where the cable either rubs against something, or where one of those dang pulley is. (pulley may not be the correct term, they actually look like brackets with springs).
If this does not work I would say to replace any springs that are along the way.
Best of luck to you and please keep us informed on how it goes!
