M130 timing chain gear

I am stripping the engine down and there is a gear in the timing chain chase. The shaft the gear is on also drives a worm gear to the distributor. I tried to pull the gear and now have 2mm play (play from front of motor to back, up and down in the picture)
how is this gear and shaft removed? there is an access panel on the front of the motor, but it does not give you access to much, just a better look.
