Did I get the wrong spark plug wire set? (W111, 220se)
I just picked up a set of Karlyn plug wires, the shop where I bought them only showed one item for my car, part #108 150 00 19 was the cross reference.
I went out today and they are dramatically different from the Karlyn set I presently have on the car, installed just a couple of years ago (they got damaged during a repair so that's why I'm replacing them). The wires on my car now are a bit longer overall but most noticeable is they have a metal boot on the plug end thats much beefier than the bakelite or plastic ends on the set I got, see photo below. Notice how the entire boot on the new set is only as long as just the metal part of the old set, with it's plastic boot extending to the edge of the pic. The metal boot is stamped with "5k Ω" as you can see.
So I'm wondering if the new set perhaps doesn't have the resistor ends my current set does or is this a different "grade" from Karlyn, like consumer level as opposed to professional or something along those lines? Trying to figure out if I need to return these, but based on the supplied wire lengths I think I will have to anyway. This set supposedly cross references with everything from 230se, 230sl, 250se, 300sl and so on, so some of you must have experience with these.
