Question W108 Windshield Chrome

Hello All:

Need some help and/or instructions on how to reinstall the chrome trim pieces on the bottom of the windshield gasket.
I installed new fastening clips since I had the car resprayed. I know the fits in the gasket and is held down by the clips as well but just can not them reinstalled.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not had to deal with this issue in your model, but I heard that some of the windows require the chrome to be installed prior to installing the window. Not sure if that helps

Yes you are correct about the top chrome trim having to be installed into the windshield gasket prior to installing the windshield.
I learned that the hard way....

The chrome parts that I am having difficulty with are the strips on the bottom of the windshield gasket. They tuck into the channel at the bottom of the gasket and are held to the body by 6 clip on the cow.

IF the top trim is pre install, then I would gather the bottom would be too. The installation would use the rope trick to get the rubber over the edges and seated. Then the clips might mount to keep it all secured.

This is just a mental picture of how it works because i have not messed with a 1960's windscreen for ages, and that was at a PnP yard.
