around 1976 I think a lot of MB models changed from ~15 mm spline to a 21mm spline. So without an adapter of some sort, I doubt a modern steering wheel with an integrated hub would work.
However, if you decide on an aftermarket steering wheel, you can probably just use an early style hub with it.
My dream car is a classic sporty five speed (stick+overdrive) convertible that seats five. If, you want 70's-80's Mercedes tuner wheels, let me know.
