Just got a 1970 220d with 130,000 miles. Car lived on a farm for most of its life. Perfect interior, minimal rust, runs good and came with some home-brewed touches. Buying the car I knew there was a problem with the brakes, seemingly a problem with the booster. After getting it home I took the vacuum pressure at the intake, leading to the vacuum pump at a solid 2 mmHg at idle. I took it again at a T joint after the pump and got even less. Took off the cover of the vacuum pump (pic 1)and diaphram of the pump to see it in fair shape but no bolt holding it to the pump. Took off the housing to show that the mechanism the attaches to the cam, the cup and roller bearing are missing (pic 2). I believe this is what the part I'm missing looks like (pic 3). Keeping the vacuum system original would be ideal. Id like to find that part and not buy an entire rebuilt unit, the parts are cheap and the work is easy. I also hear that there are other vacuum pumps that will fit my w115 or even stand alone diesel vacuum systems. Looking for advice before I start calling local wrecking yards for leads. Im located in Pittisburgh PA and will buy the part and pay for shipping if one can be found.
