1974 240 D electrical confusion

Only driver side fog light turns on. Tried cleaning and replaced bulbs. Still the same. I discovered that if I turn the fog lights on and turn the brights on the drivers side fog turns off and passenger fog turns on. What would make this happen ? How do I began to troubleshoot ?

Side note: the original lights were replaced by the previous owner with Vintage Hella lights. The three pronged wire isn't being unionized and is just hanging out of the light housing. I tired to upload photos but it won't let me from my iPad.

IME weird electrical stuff like this can often be traced to bad grounds. Try cleaning all the appropriate ground wires and mountings, it might fix you up. If not, no harm done or $$$ wasted.

I figured it out. The passenger side fog was wired to the high beams not to the fog. I cut and spliced the appropriate wires and it works great.

Thank you for the suggestions.
