NO NO NO. the thing you have screwed into the side is one of the two front mounts that hold the face flush against the dash. That is not what goes there at all.

I think you can put the Europa bracket on the Mexico. The piece you show in the picture - you need two of those. After you have the Mexico (or Europa or any big-face Becker pinstripe radio) slide into the hole (without the chrome faceplate, knobs, dial scale on it), those long things go in the slots of the pot metal and then you screw the screw down until it holds the potmetal frame against the plastic console surround. THEN you put on the plastic dial scale and chrome bezel, then you put on the knobs.

The bracket in your hand goes on the front of the unit to hold it into the dash. remove the knobs and pull the faceplate off. after you insert the radio into the dash you insert them vertically into a notch and then tighten lightly the screw. knobs may have tiny set screw holding them on.
