Rwd4vr, glad your recuperation went well.

Just as a side note, I always do my car work in those $1.00 per pair brown cotton gloves to protect my hands. They are not foolproof, but they did prevent major damage to my hand when I was not concentrating and the Dremel I was using slipped. Still have the scar on my thumb to remind me.

I wear gloves with Kevlar in then that would have helped but I was putting a new rotor on and took them off so I didn't get grease on it.

Hey there! Been planning and plotting for awhile now. I found a massive warehouse to rent dirt cheap, I'm waiting to find out if they are gonna approve me. I'm going to be parting out cars that are too far gone to save. I've got a few parts cars plus a couple cars to sell whole once I get organized, but let me know if you need anything.
Any way here is a couple pics I snapped real quick at my parents house where my car was waiting this winter. Fonzi brought the m110 that is going in it over there just before I found the shop I'll be building her in. I powered her up for the first time and everything works, all the lights, blower ect... It's missing a carb but I couldn't help my self, so I vacuumed out the intake I case any little critters stored anything in there. Found a couple dead ones hiding inside. It cranked over good and built oil pressure quickly. I wasn't gonna pour gas in and possibly burn it to the ground but then I found a can of starting Fluid. Couldn't help myself again and shot the one carb and a tiny bit in the open manifold and it fired right up. So I have a spare engine to sell or use in my other w111(Sophia). I have named this one Raquel. Hopefully I will be moving all my stuff to this shop early April and begin tear down and upgrade. Power steering, full r107 disc brake conversion, m110.981 k-jet(for now)euro engine. The last pic is the block stamp but you can't see it. You very smart benz nuts will be saying "m110.981 is a d-jet euro motor from a c107 slc!! " well you are correct and it was news to fonzi and I also. Someone transplanted this motor into a euro w116 280se including all the kjet parts. I hope this thing is a strong as we are told it is. I don't have any reason to doubt the previous owner.

Yes indeed. Wait till this car is done.

This pic is my other w111, 64 220b daily driver. A bit rough but still awesome.

Why not put the 5.0 engine that goes with that t5 trans in the car with it?
it will be shorter and probably not any wider than the motor mounts on the original motor. parts are cheap

The 302/5,0 L ford while it's cheap and you can make 450 hp or so from a stock block before the banks want to run away from each other and spilt wide open is fine for kit cars BUT,1. they are heavy 2. It requires a custom oil pan and pickup, if I was going through all that I would put a GM LSX motor in it. 3. horrible gas mileage 4. ITS A FORD! . I'm no purist by any means but the one thing I've never liked are ford motors. It is not a ford transmission, t-5 have been in more cars than anything. Produced by Borg -Warner then tremec. I want to keep it Mercedes powered and get decent mileage to drive it on long trips. My rough driver car in the pics above, is going to get rebuilt into a track day monster after the car in this thread is built. It will have a 5.0 L engine but certainly not a ford. 5.0 L m119 Mercedes V-8 which makes 100 more horsepower than a 5.0 ford from the factory. Even iron block single overhead cam m117 Mercedes 4.5 engine makes the same horsepower as a Ford and will bolt in my car with zero modifications. Plus I already have two of them. 185 hp from the m110 I'm going to be using is plenty for a streetcar/cruiser.

Probably a typo, but it was in a euro 1981 280se that Baron Youngman parted out. Add the 110.981 w114 280e / 280ce motor and the "SLC" written on the harmonic balancer and you've got some weird Frankenstein of an engine. I will be excited to see what happens when you put that thing on a dyno after its all built. I wonder if any modifications were done to it when it was redone... And I will have to go back now and find the thread where The white stick shift sedan was being parted.

I have moved most of my stuff into the new shop(4500 sqft) with TONS of help from fonzi. Now I just need to get all my shelving for inventory finished up and tear apart a couple of my parts cars to take a million pics and load up my eBay account and shelves. Between me and fonzi there are multiple r/c107 and a couple w108s. Also a 190b w121 chassis. Let me know if you need anything. I really can't wait to get my work shop set up in there and start working on my car, just been so busy moving stuff in and working on a project that will pay two months rent. I'll have some update and progress pics soon!!
