Mini 280 Wont Start

Hi All,
Im new here, need yall guidance and advise.

So, I just bought a w114 mode 280.
M110 engine carburetor.
It runs normal, underpower (maybe carb setting).
But suddenly it wont start. One day before it run ok with very low fuel. So I add up bit fuel, checking battery (it read 48% battery). I use 80 amp.
So what items I need to check 1by1 in orderly basis to get it restart ?
Btw, is it ok to use 70 or 74amp battery ?

Check the basics, first is the carb getting fuel. if you push the accelerator pump can you see gas spray in the carb?

Pull a sparkplug boot and see if you are getting a spark when you get it near a ground, you can stick a screwedriver in and get it close to metal as someone cranks the engine over.

On the 73 280/m110 engine with carb that we had, there was a time of problems with the float/needle valve assembly sticking open or closed. Cured it by cleaning & a rebuild kit. Don

Hi rumb and ollo,
Thanks for the tips.
I have checked the spark the decided to replaced new battery, did light cleaning on the starts.
I will check afterward the alternator and wiring making sure it is not draining my brand new batt.
Btw, i personally think m110 need minimum 80 amp so that it has amp-buffer compare to 70amp, despite stock engine only requires 55amp.
