1980 300SD For Sale (Houston)

I am considering selling 1980 300SD that belonged to my Grandfather. I have had it in enclosed storage for 10 years thinking that I would get the A/C fixed and start driving it, but 10 years have already gone by, so I am considering selling it.

My Grandfather designed huge conveyor systems at plants all up and down the East coast, and he liked to drive (because my Grandmother would not let him fly any longer -- he was a B-17 pilot in WWII), so he put a lot of highway miles on the car and got MANY speeding tickets. He was also a stubborn German, so when the car needed a new engine with 357,161 miles on the odometer, he installed a brand new one at a Mercedes dealership! And since the new engine was installed, the car has only been driven 60K.

Periodically I put the charger on the battery for a day and the car always starts right up. I also recently replaced the master cylinder, all brake lines and brake pads -- again, because I had plans to start driving it, but a car without A/C in Houston is not fun.

I would like to sell it to someone who would like to fix it up - not tear it up!! Any ideas who to contact??

So this car has over 410,000 miles now? Wow.

Also you should try here: W116 S, SE, SEL, SD Class - Mercedes-Benz Forum

1980 is still considered a ''young classic''. Anything pre-1950 is vintage.

Yes, that's right! I will look at the exact mileage this week, but I remember it was about 60K since the new engine was installed. However the car was always well maintained and the miles were mostly highway... My Grandfather was quite wealthy, so he could have purchased a new car anytime, but he really liked this car. Mercedes sure doesn't make them like this anymore.

Sorry for posting in the wrong spot. I will repost in the area you suggested... Thanks to all who have viewed!

Actual current mileage on odometer is 418,250 so the engine mileage from new is 61,089.
