Hmm... Hot starting issue sounding electrical. You have a 1975 v8, probably a d-jet with transistorized ignition (if it is still stock anyway). I wonder if there's any issue with the ICU / switchgear overheating, or maybe a coil going bad. But wait... Your problem is with the car not cranking at all. Right? If so, focus on why the starter solenoid is not popping out. You may want to run some wires to the starter solenoid contacts so you can easily measure the voltage in case this ever happens again.
