Broken sunroof cable in a W111 Coupe
I'm working on the sunroof on my '67 250SE coupe and could use a little advice.
I pulled the motor to check the plastic drive gear, which is of course stripped out (is there an aftermarket solution that's better than the MBZ part>). More unfortunately it seems someone had been pulling on the cable pretty hard at one point, and it is broken off about 3 feet up the housing from the motor.
The sunroof is closed at the moment, but the seals are leaking and will need replaced soon. I assume this is a pretty involved job - reading the manual it looks like the rear window and the headlining need to come out.
Is this still possible if the cable is broken and the roof is closed? I don't see any way to get it open far enough to work on.
