w113 Door Pockets: Hard vs. "Soft"

Hello,

would like to consult the collective knowledge of the forum, does anyone know with certainty if the 280SL were equipped with "Hard" pockets?

Did this change within the 280, or already during the 250?

According to worldupg, the US 280 were equippend with "soft", and the Euro with hard pockets?

Thank you

For the US market the hard pockets switched to soft pockets in the middle of the 250SL run. There are early 250SLs and Late 250SLs. The changes are the door pockets, the interior door handle and latch, small knobs to big knobs on dash, fewer reflective surfaces. For the non-US market I think the change comes later but I can't say for sure.

Why are you asking? Your question would work much better on SL113.org and probably be found in the technical manual at this link: Pagoda SL Group Technical Manual :: Interior / DoorTrim

Originality be damned. Go with the soft pockets. The hard pockets are nothing but a PITA. They are constantly in the way when you enter and exit the car. They serve as dust, moisture and catch-all traps. They are usually broken because you hit them with your feet as you exit the car.

I say the opposite. The soft pocket doors are ugly and lack cute armrests.
