Without removing the cross braces on the W115 you are limited to M115's, M130's and I believe the M129.
Removing the cross brace is not a big deal. It is there as added support for diesel engines. '73 and later W114's don't have the brace on what is to all intents and purpose the same chassis.
Removing the brace allows for the installation of M110's, M117's, M103's and M104's with a few alterations regarding the drive train and fuel delivery systems.
Good point regarding the M102's. It has been a long time since I've seen one. I completely forgot about it.
You will need to engineer an electronic control system for the M102, M103, M104 and M117's.
