New to me W109

Hi All, I asked a question a little earlier this weekend but figure I owe a picture and some history of my new to me W109.

In '72 my Granddad took euro delivery of his 300SEL 4.5 and drove all over germany before having it shipped back to TX where it lived most of it's life, in the mid 80's it made it to Washington State for several years during his retirement before being driven back to TX. After he passed 10 years it was given to my Uncle who didn't drive it much, when it stopped running he started storing stuff in it and on it. I had been trying for years to come to an agreement to get it and restore it. he finally relented this spring, so I loaded the family up and headed to TX to tow it back 1500 miles and get it running again.
So we have it home now, I got it running for the first time in about 4 years, working on the FI system, may do a megasquirt on it at a later date. We have run around the neighborhood and doing last things to get it through state inspection. Figure I will drive it for a year before it gets stripped down and sprayed, body is in good shape, paint is awful, interior is pretty good, mechanicals are 90% as well. Car has 272,000 miles on it, goal is to get to the next high mileage award at 500,000 km. I also have the euro delivery german tags, one will go on the front. Looking forward to a fun project, and hope to contribute some as well as I work my way through this car. Yes, the rear badge says 3.5, he never put the 4.5 on when it came back to the states, the 4.5 wasn't available in germany. Pic is just after it was towed out of the garage and before it was winched onto a trailer.

So is it a 3.5 or a 4.5? Hint: is there a tachometer in the center of the dash between the two gauges or a clock? Tach = 3.5, clock = 4.5. (If 3.5 a rectangular clock is to the left of the steering column I believe....)
