If you're easily insulted, that's your problem, not mine. I've been dealing with classic MBs on and off for almost two decades, and I'm still nowhere near knowing "everything there is to owning one", so there's that.
I don't know who Mr Bergsma is, I'm sure he's a great guy, but the engine swap idea is a non-starter in this case. It's a waste of time, money and effort, and, most importantly, there is no reason for it. Just wait for the right 300D to come along, it will eventually. The only time an engine swap make sense (if then) is if you're after an engine that was not available in your given bodystyle, e. g. an M117 in a 115 body. It certainly won't "cost the least amount of money".
Overall, if you're trying to spend "the least amount of money", you're in the wrong hobby. With a budget cap of $7,000 you're much better off with a Corolla.
There is nothing wrong with asking hypothetical questions (I said as much in the very post you found so insulting), but reality can be a nice thing, too, sometimes.
