W115 200D fuel return hose

Hi everyone! The fuel return hose of my 200d has sprung a huge leak. Would any rubber hose do as a replacement? Thanks!

NO. Get real diesel fuel hose material. Viton hoses are, in my view, best for the purpose. They are more robust and able to survive Bio-diesel usage without dissolving as quickly. Bio has incredible solvent ability due to lack of standards removing the methanol. All lines will weep eventually.

The fuel lines between the injectors is sold by the meter. You need less than a meter to do them all. The metal lines under the car do not normally leak, but the rubber bits linking them will. Get new.

Thanks, Redghost! I was able to replace the leaking lines earlier with rubber fuel lines I was able to purchase at a nearby parts store. So far so good but I still need to observe if there are other leaks. The hoses I replaced have gotten really, really soft and could easily be torn. I guess the biodiesel in our local B5 did that to the rubber. Would have loved to use Viton but I don't think it is available here in the Philippines.

Ijiwaru, I am sort of sure you can source Viton out of China. Ebay is a fine source. No real need, just be on the ball checking the lines if you do use BioD. That stuff will eat any rubber. I had to replace the fuel filler gasket twice on the E300D, fuel lines and valve gasket three times. Standard diesel or kerosene are not as aggressive.

Thanks again, Redghost. I'll definitely check on the lines frequently. I will try to source Viton through friends in the U.S.
