Mistery Mercedes Benz

Dear fellow Mercedes Benz enthousiasts, I'm new around here. I'm from the Netherlands. I have a question of which I hope to find the answer on this forum.
A friend of mine found an unusual Mercedes Benz a few weeks ago. Chassis, engine, gearbox and diff are Mercedes Benz 220 of the mid 50's.
The body however is misterious. It looks like it's a conversion of a Lancia Aurelia B20 of the same era, but it's not. Panels are different in profile and angle. The sides too flat, the windscreen too raked, etc.
The dashboard is also definitly not Lancia. It has Mercedes instruments and switches. It does not have a tipically Mercedes VIN. The Mercedes museum in Germany doesn't know the car.
Is there someone out there who can identify this car ? We would be very pleased.
Many thanks in advance from the Netherlands

I almost want to say Jensen. Do you know what the body is made of (aluminum, fiberglass, Duroplast.....)?

It is a steel body. The bonnet and boot lid may be aluminium. I have to take a closer look on these

OK, good. That may help narrow it down a bit.

Not a Borgward, Opel, or Audi. Possibly Glas. The body has a very 'British' look to it, Like a Jowett or a Sunbeam. Sunbeam Talbot perhaps?

Personally I think the car was built by a coachbuilder on Mercedes 220 base somewhere in the mid 50's. The question is who built it?
Is it a one-off ? Were more than one built? Is it European ? South American perhaps?
There is no chassis plate and there is no paperwork with the car.
