Why only cars before 1979?

Just wondering if early 80's Mercedes are considered "vintage" and can be talked about on this thread? The Classic Car Club of America maintains that a car must be between 30 and 49 years old to be a classic. Technically a 1985 Mercedes could be considered a classic.

Well I'm happy to talk about them here as now they face similar issues; finding parts, finding a mechanic old enough to remember how to work on them.
But it's not that this group was founded as an exclusive club for pre 78 cars - it's that the newer cars each have their own forums. In your case I think the W123 and W124's are bunched together.
Here we are exclusive, naturally, but if you love the junk yard find or sharing the essential bit of trivia about the correct radio for a 1964 220 then you're one of us.

Yeah. You will probably get better details on specific models in the specific model forums. There aren't any benzworld subforums I'm aware of for:
- w114/115
- w113
- w111/112
- w108/109
I know there are others that we might talk about commonly here, but generally people go where they find the best information, which is why I doubt you will see too many w113 owners in here.

All these have their own forums on BW:
- W107 (r107 / c107 technically) and span 71/72-89.
- W123 77-87?
- w126 80-91?
- w116 72-1980?
- w124
- w201
And they all seem to have had models in the 80's. There's no reason to have to post in the vintage forum for any ~1977 later Benz. I think the latest car that doesn't have its own subforum is a 1976 w114/115.

Makes sense. I should repost some of my W123 posts over their. Would the admins be mad if I posted in multiple threads? Of coarse they'll see my mistake.

If they get mad about that...

I would just make a post in the w123 forum and maybe provide a link to the previous thread/info.

The w116 forum is about as dead as dead can get.

Which is why they lump all the older chassis cars together, so that folks can at least get some eyeballs on their threads.

I really think the 'Vintage' era ended with the 108/109/111/113 series cars-they just seemed to get too modern after that...Ball joints and Aluminum blocks don't belong on a vintage MB. Just joking of course-they are all cool.
