I would suggest disconnecting the plug for the multiswitch to determine if the switch is the problem. I am pretty confident that the plug for the multiswitch is a big ass rectangle that can be accessed by removing the plastic panel under the steering wheel.
I am doubting that the problem is the multiswitch as the wiring for the switch runs through the steering. Column and down low, not very close to the cluster. If it is the multiswitch, I believe it is just a coincidental failure.
How are the signal lights in the cluster?
What happens when you hit the hazard switch?
My dream car is a classic sporty five speed (stick+overdrive) convertible that seats five. If, you want 70's-80's Mercedes tuner wheels, let me know.
