71 Mercedes 250 ($9,500)

Mercedes Benz Other Sedan | eBay

1971 Mercedes 250 sedan ~ SHOW QUALITY*

Very clean sedan that has always been garage kept. Only 2 previous owners.*
Mechanically sound and burns no oil. ALL NEW FLUIDS. All maintenance items have been addressed as needed and tires are almost new (see pictures). It reads 66,313 miles which I'm sure is accurate. It is VERY CLEAN inside, VERY CLEAN OUTSIDE, and no rust anywhere! The underside of the vehicle is in great shape and even the trunk is clean.*

This car drives and looks so nice you can use it as a show car or a daily driver. I've driven it at least 3-4 days a week since I've owned it. Very easy to drive around town. Customizations or changes to the vehicle include only tented windows (which can be removed if you prefer) & an aftermarket temp gauge(see pictures) temp gauge on dash does not work.

Exterior is in %98 condition (slight fading on paint)
Interior is in %97 condition (small scratches on dash near*steering column)*

Air Condition works very very very well! Colder than my other vehicle which is a 2000 VW Wagon. Truly impressive how well it works.*

Radio is fully functional.*

This mercedes is cold natured and if it sits more than 48 hrs without being started you might have to push the gas pedal 3 times and it'll start up no problem.*

THIS VEHICLE NEEDS NOTHING and DRIVES GREAT!

For 9 g's I would buy two of these. Maybe. And a 45 yr old car with only 66k miles? I don't buy it for a second, sorry. Is this a private party sale or dealership sale?

And for that price I wouldn't want it to be cold natured ...

Hey GRUBguy* Yes let me state it yet again ... 66k miles and not a dealership.

Your invalid comments appreciated.
Cheers

Nice looking car inside and out. How long have you owned it?

why not remove the silly plastic thing on the dash though? and fix the windshield washer hose. the piece of string holding it on is tacky.

It does need a carb adjustment, it should start right up. That gauge is a temperature gauge, not a thermostat. and why is it there? doesn't the one in the cluster work?

It's always the little things that get noticed. If you want top dollar, then you can't have these little things.

Ken, have you researched the values of these cars? All snippiness aside, your car, in "just rolled off the assembly line/absolute perfection/Pebble Beach/King Someone owns/100% original" condition, is worth a little less than $9k, according to two of my favorite sites. I'd say much less so because of the cold weather temperment thing and the other issues you mention in the adverts.

The going rate for a car like this, that is, historical sales prices, shows the median sales price well south of $9k.

And seriously, that car with "original" miles would have averaged about 1400 miles a year since new, meaning it either sat unused for long periods, or was used about three miles a day. If you listed a more realistic price and stated that true mileage is unknown but assumed to be 166k miles, you might get more interest in the car. Anyone with a sense for classic Mercedes will know the engines last eons and won't be put off with the odo rolling over once ...

Have you got records to substantiate the original miles?

Hi Rumb, Thanks for the suggestions. I've owned the car for 2 years. I'm the 3rd owner and string under the hood is surprising not holding anything up! I completely over looked that or else I would have cut it off (obviously), my guess is that it used to hold up the windshield washer hose as you mentioned. In regards to the Temp Gauge, NO the original temp gauge does NOT work (Thanks for bringing that to my attention, the ad needs to mention that)

Hi Grubeguy, Snippiness aside... I do appreciate your thoughts, though I have seen a vehicle same /year/make/model/only slightly better condition (though minor things did not function properly) Sell for 13K. That being said I believe 9,500 is a reasonable starting price.

In regards to the mileage, it was owned for 35+ years by the same owner and as cliche' as it sounds, she was older and only drove it around town for errands.
It was hard for me to believe as well that those would be the original miles, but all documentation supports it ; title/oil changes/mechanics opinion/etc.
The car went from 1st owner > family member of 1st owner > me
and I have no reason to not believe them.

Thanks again for your non-snippy thoughts on the vehicle.

You can ask whatever you want. It doesn't mean it will sell, and it doesn't mean it won't sell. Wasn't there some saying about there being a sucker born every minute or something like that.

Price seems fair after seeing this one.
