Single row?

My 1970 250c (built in 1969) with a m130 has a dual row.

Did many if these engines come with a single row chain?

Looks like I blew the whistle a little too soon on the M130 as I think my car has a M114 in her. I spotted a 114 part number on the intake manifold.

Looking for a timing chain

What's your VIN? 114.011 is a 2.8 m130 w114 sedan.

Here's a pic of under the valve cover on my 1970.

I came up with 0009976894 available online.

EPC was for 114 010.

no clear pictures so cant confirm it is single row but that is what came with that chassis.

what is your engine number? maybe you have switched engine?

That looks like an m180. Didn't that engine come on some early 114's? The early 230?

That pic shows a single row chain and with a 114.010 chassis type it should have carbs instead of fuel injection. Do you have carburators?

Yes, he does. I can see the zeniths poking out from the cover rag.

She's quite a mix match as I can tell. The head has a 180 part number. I ordered a 124 link single row timing chain for a M114 on a hunch for $28.00. The mission here is to quiet down all the valve train noise as this thing sounds like a tractor even after adjusting the valves(.003 / .007). This is a new car to me so I have to figure out what atrocities the poor old girl was subjected to previous to us owning her. I "rebuilt" the chain tensioner today with no success to a tight chain.. I ran it without the valve cover installed (messy) to isolate the rattling noise and found it emulates from the back side of the head/cam yes all the squirters were working and oil pressure good. I know the chain adds to the issue but dosent contribute to all the noise... Do the valve springs commonly collapse in these? My theory..
