I bought another 300D for the aluminum wheels...

Well I did it again. I've bought another 1981 300D for the aluminum wheels. I'll be fixing it up some and either keeping it or selling it, probably selling it as I have too many cars. It's an exceptional garage queen in many ways. Nearly perfect palomino interior (not faded anywhere) and perfect wood.

The engine is an oily mess, cruise control and AC not working, sunroof rattles and I've been advised not to open it. Engine and transmission are great. Seems faster than my turbodiesel 300TD 1985 wagon that I used to own...

My first improvement was to replace the re-chromed pealing front bumper with a nice one from the junkyard...

Needless to say, a good set of Bundts will be going on this car so that I can keep the wheels (which are the only reason I bought the car).

Not enough information in the listing to tell. Seller lists it as a 1989 which is wrong. If it is 1979 then "no". If it is 1980 then probably. If it is 1981 then yes.

It's a US-spec car with hubcaps. You would have to get seller to send you a photograph of the spare tire or something to tell. Or go see it in person. Or see a picture of the MB plate in the door jam.

If it has the wheels it would certainly be worth the asking price. I paid way more for that for the blue car I'm driving around...
