Beautiful car Dpoul34..

I have that similar problem on one of my coupes, If I gently lift up or pull the shifter upwards as if I am attempting to remove it from the floor (Gently), it brings the ball at the bottom of the shifter in the correct position with the socket, then you move it to the far left and forward.

Enjoy Reverse.

But according to the pics, that motor doesn't look like a 220. To me it looks more like a 250 or 280.. Or maybe I'm a little over zealous.

If you intend to show this (and win) at German-centric car shows, I'd recommend the Classic Center. If you plan to drive the thing now and then and enjoy her, I'd recommend any number of places for parts, depending what you're looking for. The moderator of this forum runs a Mercedes parts business that I've come to trust and rely on.

As for an owner's manual, check out the Online Resources portion of the forum before doing something like that. There's a ton of info posted that might be useful. I'll dig through my own stuff to see what I have available as well.

Congrats on a fantastic purchase

with the car in neutral , go all away left with shifter and forward .now , if all bushings are bad you may have a hard time finding reverse .
