I may take a look at a 1979 W116 that's a Euro spec car. Owner says the climate controls are "frozen" in the Defrost mode. I've asked for more information and am waiting to hear back, but in the interim I'm trying to find as much information about this system as I can, which hasn't been much so far...
Does anyone here have any knowledge of these systems, or know of some online reference or repair information that I could study? I'm very well versed on the ACC systems that were sold in the States since the late 70s, but have little experience with the Euro (manual) systems.
is an eBay auction of the panel that is the same as what's in the car I'm looking at for reference.
I'm assuming the levers are cables for the flaps in the air distribution system, but I'm sketchy on exactly what the knobs do. I'm assuming one (the top?) is for the fan and controls the speeds, and the other controls temperature.
In the systems I've seen in Euro models there was a separate rocker switch for the AC compressor. Doesn't look like that's the case in this system.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
