Ok. Wait a second. There were only 2419 of these built between 1962 and 1967 ? Hmm...

The suspension doesn't seem to be sitting low. Does that mean it is working? Or has it been replaced with springs? Or did the 300 coupe not get an air ride?

IF VIN is correct then it should be a 1962 model, not a 1967

If it is number 1411 of about 2500, then shouldn't it be about the middle of the 62-67 range?

Oh. 107s, which I know better than any others were numbered like this:

107.023.ab.###### where a is LHD or RHD, b is transmission, and ###### is the build number for the 350slc (as 107.023 was a 3.5 liter SLC

107.024.ab.###### where a is LHD or RHD, b is transmission, and ###### is the build number for the 450slc

107.043.ab.###### where a is LHD or RHD, b is transmission, and ###### is the build number for the 350sl

Etc etc.

So despite the fact that there were over 300,000 107s built, there was no 107xxx.ab.300000

Do you know what I mean?

Edit: apparently it doesn't matter because it is clear that w112 were not numbered in the same way 107s were numbered. See my next post.

300se coupe no reserve. no bids yet at 7500.

Coupe 1411 :

http://www.autobia.com/car-detail/30...393865514.html

http://m.ebay.com/itm/331406399703?_mwBanner=1

Ebay ended at $17,100:
http://m.ebay.com/itm/231393865514?_...r=1&rmvSB=true

1963 Coupe 3060 :

Appears:

112.014 = 300se sedan (5202 produced)
112.015 = 300se LWB sedan (1546 produced)
112.021 = 300se coupe (2419 produced)
112.023 = 300se cabriolet (708 produced)

The fact that there is a 112.021 #3060 in the video above makes it look like there must have either been numbers skipped or some models shared production numbers. And the fact that the video says 3060 is a 1963 makes it clear that you must be right, 1411 must be a 1962.

Thank you!

I enjoy learning about the older cars. I've decided that if I'm going one direction or the other with my MB obsession, it will be towards the older cars (not the newer ones). Currently my earliest is a 1970 250c that I'm probably going to part to help save a 1972 250c.

This 300se sure does look interesting. Unfortunately, it seems to have just been tossed around in the $7000-8000 price range, and for some reason, nobody has embarked on a project to save it. Why? Not worth it?
