help with dash lights

Just bought a 82 300sd turbo diesel, And this is my first car. My dads a mechanic but I want to fix this car up my self. i fixed the speakers/radio, alarm, and fuel gauge already, but for some reason i can't get the lights where the speedometer and fuel gauge are located, to work. Do you think this could just be a simple needing to change the bulb? Thanks!

if some of Instrument Cluster panel lights work the the rheostat dimmer should be ok can you adjust the light intensity ? if so that unit is ok
Anyway yes if some lights work it could be just some of the light bulbs . You might hit a salvage yard and grab all the bulbs and I would also get the Light dimmer for the dash lights as they often go out in time

I "highly recommend" you watch the YOUTUBE video on dash lights put out by mercedessource.com.

In fact, watch all his videos and you'll learn a lot about your new car.

rotate the small knob at left on cluster to see , if nothing happen , the rheostat is bad [ common ] , just remove it , and solder a wire across it and put it back .

The bulbs aren't unobtanium - you can find them at Autozone, Napa, etc.

Something you might consider is the color of the things. Years ago, I had my speedometer replaced and elected to put blue sleeves across the bulbs, all of them, including the one in the gear selector. Instead of a plain white light, I had a soft blue. You can find those in multiple colors, and they're available at Amazon, eBay, etc.

I replaced a good number of my bulbs with LED's, but found on someof them, weird stuff started happening so put regular bulbs back in. While you have your dash out would ba a good time to look over your odometer. mine was non-functional so replaced it while wiring across my rheostat.
