450sl power steering whine

I had the power steering pump in my 76' 450sl rebuilt by my mechanic. It now has a constant whine unless I turn the wheel slightly and put a load on it. The mechanic has not been helpful I trouble shooting his problem. Any ideas as to the cause?

He rebuilt it wrong or bled it wrong.

C&M does excellent work. On items like this often just worth it to get a good rebuild, instead of just replacing parts without checking internal dimensions.

Your Parts Search Returned 1 Part(s)

Once you have reconnected the power steering line and filled the reservoir, reattach the battery but DO NOT start the car. With the ignition unlocked turn the steering wheel curb to curb 30 times. This will help purge the air from the system, failure to do this will cause air to be trapped in the system and result in a noisy and improperly working rack. Make sure you fill the reservoir to the correct level as the system is very level sensitive.

If that doesnt fix, take it back and have him do it again under warranty.

you dont rebuild those pumps , you just replace the front seal and rear oring . there is no reason to totally take it apart .
