w114 280c without roof trim?
I can't find any pics. I think it would look very "bubble-top" from the back. Notice the difference between the rear c-pillars on a coupe vs sedan:
The comparison might be closer to the SL (pagoda-reminiscent roof rails) vs the SLC:
I recently got to thinking of maybe trying to use my blue 250c's hardtop when I try to extend an SL hardtop to fit my custom-convertible SLC. Part of the benefit would be the integration of the roof rails from both the (front of the) SL top and the (rear of the) 250c top (and rear glass).
Obviously a lot if details need to be worked out if this is ever going to happen for me.
So do you have pictures of your w114 coupe without the roof rails installed?
Being a little obsessed on this I ran out into the rain/sleet/snow the do some measurements. The SL rails are 2-4 inches narrower than the 250c. So they would certainly not match up for me, but it does look like the width on the rear glass could work out, and the length of the 250c rails would likely work for my project (being long enough if the goal was to replace the SL rails). However, if the rails weren't flared out they wouldn't meet up with the corners of the 250c glass. The roof rails meet the rear glass corners on both the 250c and the r107. So that would be an added challenge of this project.
Sorry for the total hijack, but I had been thinking about roof rails myself lately,
My dream car is a classic sporty five speed (stick+overdrive) convertible that seats five. If, you want 70's-80's Mercedes tuner wheels, let me know.
