220 SEbC W111 Transmission Problems
Hi, I am having some problems with the Automatic Transmission of a W111 220 SEb C.
The main problem is that will not shift into 3rd gear till a screeching 4000 + RPM and a speed of 60.
I have done the wiring of the 3 position solenoid to the best of my knowledge but would still like a detailed sketch of how all the wires from the kick down switch, throttle sensor, wiring loom and 3 way solenoid should be connected. The odd thing is that with ignition on the solenoid moves as it should but once the engine starts it does not.
The second problem I have is that the Modulator pressure is very high on minimum at 3.1 kg/cm2 when the manual says it should be around 1. The medium pressure is also high at 3.8 kg/cm2 instead of 2.9 but the kick down pressure is almost ok at 4.9 against the required of 4.8. The test was done with the vacuum line disconnected.
The third problem I have is to find the correct way to test the stepped pressure. While the manual shows the testing point, it does not give any test values. While in P the stepped value is 0, in 4th at about 2000 RPM it goes to 2.5 kg/cm2 and stays there.
I do hope someone on this group can help me resolve these issues.
