Obtaining a title without a chain of ownership varies from state to state. Start with your state's department of motor vehicles. In California there is a process that involves creating a chain of ownership and getting a bill of sale (hah, how do you do that???), and in Arizona you have to post some sort of bond. In Florida I have no idea but check with your state DMV for starters. You might run into complications if you can't do it in Florida since some states (including California) require a vehicle inspection to title a car... (If I buy a car in Arizona and drive it to California I need to take it to DMV for inspection -- this is a problem if you don't move the car to the state in which you obtain title).
