'64 220SE Coupe Title

Ok so I own a few W111 Coupes, Big whoop...

However I bought another one to be a downer but then decided to resto it anyway, the thing about that is I didn't have a title can anyone point me in the direction of how and where.

I checked with an online company their price was in the high $800. Is that what I'm generally gonna be looking at? I was hoping for mid $200 atleast below $500.

Thanks.

I heard you can get someone to do something with a no-title state like Georgia or something. I've heard it can be done for only $150. It could just be urban legend.

Obtaining a title without a chain of ownership varies from state to state. Start with your state's department of motor vehicles. In California there is a process that involves creating a chain of ownership and getting a bill of sale (hah, how do you do that???), and in Arizona you have to post some sort of bond. In Florida I have no idea but check with your state DMV for starters. You might run into complications if you can't do it in Florida since some states (including California) require a vehicle inspection to title a car... (If I buy a car in Arizona and drive it to California I need to take it to DMV for inspection -- this is a problem if you don't move the car to the state in which you obtain title).

Currently: 1967 250 SL, 1963 220Sb, 1965 300SE Lang, 1971 280SE parts car, 1972 Alfa GTV, 1965 Alfa Duetto, 1993 BMW R100R
Past: 1971 250 C, 1985 300 TD, 1967 250 S, 1968 280 S,1981 300 D, 1982 280CE, 3 Facel Vegas, Borgward Isabella Coupe, Alfa 2600 Sprint, Volvo P1900 (yes), numerous less interesting Volvos, ...

I know a family here that owns a used car lot, The daughter told me she usually can do it, her price $250. But....

The car would have had to been previously registered in Ga or Fl, because her resources (in the DMV) are in those two states.

I bought the car from a guy in Virginia, who bought it from another guy...
His plans was to also be a downer, but he decided to go in another direction because the parts were becoming to expensive, so he sold..

Rumb thanks for the link.

that link is very informative but seems a bit redundant, or maybe i'm not understanding something

These are the requirements to obtaining a title: If I had options 2 and 3 I wouldn't need to go down this road.

**To obtain a salvage title, bring the following to your tax collector's office:

1. Completed Application for Salvage Title/Certificate of Destruction (Form HSMV 82363).

2. One of the following: the vehicle's original Florida certificate of title, the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO), or an out-of-state title.

3. Applicable fees (contact your local office for fee schedule, as it may vary by county).

Remember, I bought the car from a guy who bought it from a guy so tracking down the MCO might be a bit of a challenge, or not?
