I'd Like One In Black, Please!
Sbaert posted this video in the W124 forum a few weeks ago when I discussed a W116 I was/am interested in securing. It's an amazing video showcasing an amazing MB product. Leno nailed the history and some cute, interesting, facts about this vehicle, didn't he?
"Best vehicle in my collection... Chairman Mao owned 23 of them...$1100 hydraulic switch for the window..."
At one time I thought, "Gee, I bet I could snatch one of these up cheap, since the fuel economy was so poor, and they looked so odd that people probably didn't think of them as practical or collectable." I had no idea how SPECIAL these models were/are, and what it would take in terms of annual maintenance to own one. I have a cargasm just thinking about driving one. The closest thing to it I ever drove was a RHD 1962 Rolls Royce owned by a Pakistani friend who lived in Houston.
I appreciate "stately" automobiles, and these 600's certainly are the best of the best.
