Set timing on W111 220S Fintail
I hate timing and don't understand it well. Mercedes doesn't do me any favors with the BBB either.
Example: In a table it says that the timing should be 35 degrees at 4500 RPM with no vacuum advance
In another table it says that with vacuum it should advance the timing +10 degrees.
My husband thinks that timing with vacuum at 4500 RPM should be 10 degrees. I think it should be 45 degrees. Do you know the answer?
To make matters more confusing, the the crankshaft pulley has two sets of numbers on it. One set closer to the fan, one set closer to the engine. WHY??? See attached.
