I just dropped off my 1971 250 m130 sedan at the house of someone who has four+ w114 coupes. He's apparently a real guru in these, and told me that originally the rear muffler had two outlets, but MB replaced them with single outlet mufflers in ~1974 and the replacements for the older ones also came with single outlets. I don't know if this is all true, but it is what I was told today.
My two m130 coupes have only single outlets on the rear muffler, and they have nice solid replacement mufflers and tailpipes, stainless in one case. My white sedan still has dual outlet, but the exhaust is all rotted out and it sounds like a motorcycle.
Maybe the later replacements would explain your problem finding two-outlet resonators.
My dream car is a classic sporty five speed (stick+overdrive) convertible that seats five. If, you want 70's-80's Mercedes tuner wheels, let me know.
