I am getting close to being able to spend some time on this one. I got the windshield last week.

I've got piles of wheels that would work on these cars.

Fonzi! You've been holding out on me! You've got a decent project 114 and a gorgeous 2 tone one as well?!

My buddy in Portland has a similarly
Gorgeous 250C two tone! Looks so classy - his pure w114 also lit the fire again for me to get my 114 back. I do lean towards bone stock resto on the two tones Like an ambassador car!

Nice car Fonzi. Can't wait to see it finished

I think Paul Bracq is an under appreciated genius!

I say lower away. Looks like you could drop it 2" without it being too ghetto.

I dropped my 107 - 2" because it too seemed to be riding high.

Here's the thread:

It's going to be some time before I get it rolling. It doesn't need much, but I do this as a hobby and I've got one more small-project 107 to get off my hands before focusing on the small-project w114 cars. But now that I've got a windshield, I don't need to part out the blue one that just has some body damage to the passenger rear. It's got floorpan rot, but having just learned how to use my welder, I'm no longer scared of that kind of stuff. Hell, I will even spend a day of welding with the buyer if they are willing to bring what's needed to get the job done.

So there's a low number m130 blue 250c with a chrome shifter plate and golf-ball-like shifter that's up for grabs to a purchaser. Blue MBTex interior w one rip on the passenger seat. Some guy from Finland said he wants it but hasn't made the needed arrangements yet. I could either use my sedan to save the coupe , or the coupe to save my sedan if I part them out.

So I'm not "holding out", just trying not to hijack a co thread.

W114/115 sedans are what inspired my first MB purchase. I ended up buying an r107, but really the w115 styling is what got me interested. Only after I have a great running w114 will I determine if I'm in the w114 for the long haul, of just the short term. I'm definitely going older, and not newer though. W108/9, w111 or w113 seem like a very classic car worth the time and effort, w114/5 currently seem like nice cheap toys, that are just too hard to resist at their low prices.

Tom, glad you're still "in love" and enjoying it. The old 280C actually sits about level (all stock height), but there was about 500+ lbs. of spare/original parts in the trunk when he took those pictures, on the way home. I don't miss it.......yet, but I am sure I will next summer. I think I told you that when I had it lowered, it was only because the front sub-frame bushings (changed them twice over the years) were bad and the front sat about 1-1 1/2 in. lower. I thought it looked crappy with the rear sitting up so high and that's when I lowered the rear with the clamps. After replacing the sub-frame bushings, the front was back up where it belonged and it looked crappy again because of the lowered rear. That's when I removed the clamps and put it back to where it sits now. My 2 cents, FWIW, I thought it looked pretty neat when it was lowered. I like the idea of another set of springs (no clamps) that are set up the way you want it. I'll monitor from afar, and offer my biased opinions if you're interested. Enjoy and I hope you have as much fun with it as I did over the years.

Keep in mind due to stupid motor vehicle laws some cars in USA spec sat a little bit
higher than Euro spec. Something to do with headlight and bumper hight.
