power steering pump loose 240D
1976 W115 240D, with a 1975 615 (220D?)
Hey everyone, I started having some serious belt squeal last week and finally came to the conclusion it was the power steering pump. I looked and found that I can literally move it by hand and the belt is obviously very loose.
I have tried and tried to figure out where the tension bolts are (if there are any?) as well as where the mounting bolts are and I cant find anything accept one 13mm bolt head on the bottom left of the pump (facing rear)
Of course I cannot fit anything but a socket head alone up there.
So if any of these questions can be answered I would really appreciate it:
Where are the mounting bolts?
How can I re-tighten the belt?
Do I need a pry bar, special tools etc..?
Should I try to secure the pump back to the frame first?
Can I realistically do this solo?
Thanks again for any info or direction
UPDATE: Ok I found a couple 13mm on the front and tightened them so now I cant move the pump by hand, so thats good, however I could not find a way to tighten the belt still.
