Flooding W111 220SE
I have a W111 220SE fintail (M127) that seems to be flooding - hard to start, lots of fuel-smelling smoke, rough running. This recently started, after about 20 years of fairly reliable running. Is this a known issue, e.g., the FI pump or system itself is finally getting tired after 50 years? Or is there an adjustment to be made? I don't know much about these systems, but my car has had almost zero fuel delivery issues over the years.
About 2 months ago, I took it in for a repair, as the generator wasn't charging at low speeds. After 15 years, I assumed the rebuild wore out. I got it back, and the newly rebuilt generator failed, apparently due to a defect in the voltage regulator that was installed along with the new generator. Now I get it back with both fixed, and this happens almost immediately. I don't know if these could be linked.
Thanks for any hints.
