Question seat padding renewal/refurbishing

What is the general consensus regarding replacement of seat padding in older models? While the rest of the car is in amazing condition (only 27000 original miles), the seat padding has pretty much disintegrated, leaving the springs to dig into your back.

Is it better to replace the seat padding with the horsehair, or is a newer material (i.e. foam padding) more suitable? I'm trying to keep the car as original as possible...are there seat insert/kits made for the perforated seats in the Benzes? I'm trying to keep to seats from looking like overstuffed chairs...

temporarily , you could use house carpet , cut at right size and insert bettw the spring pad and seat bottom material , it will feel a lot better .you can use more then one layer .

Go to GAHH.com They make rubberized pads which are much better.

Yes, thanks they are fun, but finding one at a reasonable price is getting harder. There was one solid car in northern VA that sold for less than 10K about 6 months ago. Everything else from then seems to be 20K plus.

World Upholstery has the original horsehair pads. They're pretty easy to install too.
