78 350SE Hydrolocking With Fuel

Hello all, i have 78 350SE and it has been sitting for about 10 years.. I drained and refilled the fuel tank with fresh gas and installed new fuel pump because the old one was all rotten and leaking, also the fuel pump wires had melted together all the way into the backseat.I have fixed the wires. Now the car will not start and dumps so much fuel in the cylinders that it will hydrolock! Do i have stuck injectors? or is there a problem with the fuel distributer? please help. FYI car runs with pump disconnected and using alternative fuel source . Once i try to connect the fuel pump it dies instantly.

REMOVE THE AIR FILTER , and see if the round flap is stuck down , this will cause the injectors to spray fuel non stop . lift this flap to its most upper position .no gas should flow now . watch out for hydrolock , you could bend a rod .

second thought , there is a blue electrical connector near that intake flap , if you disconnected and with a paper clip bridge it , this will shut the fuel pump off . you may have to remove the fuel distributor , and free the piston , so it moves smoothly.[wd40] . the air flap push it , the fuel pressure will act as a spring to bring it back down , if it get stuck , the fuel will pour into engine .
