I put the dear old gal on eBay, and Craig's List is next.

Great colour combo. And nice long list of stuff done - people who have not fixed up a non-runner or long parked car forget how much money all those little things add up to. Well with your car, they are already done.
The inheritance must be very impressive to give up on that beauty!
Good luck,
Drew

I love your car. I sure wish I could talk you out of selling it, but I'm certain you have a good reason. Please share it with us.

My dad retired a year or so ago and is moving to a new place. His '67 250S, another '73 280 SE and a '71300SEL are finally going to me. Ive talked often about the mustang engined 108 he put together years ago - this is part and parcel of it all. I'm taking all the best parts and making the 300 their final resting place, including perhaps the Ford 289. What's left is the transport to Maryland at some point, hopefully soon

Good luck with the sale and everything else. Sorry to see her go, but she will find a great new home. Keep us posted on your other projects.

I like that engine and the Chevy small blocks - lots of potential, tons of parts available for reasonable prices and a lot of tech know how. And I can soup one up easily

My indi Mercedes tech took a junk yard Mercedes M117 5.0 motor and fabricated a manifold for a Holly 4 barrel carb. Claimed it doubled the hp(400+) and bolted right into his 1970 280 SE. He said the M117 motors were strangled by the stock fuel injection but the M117 motor is basically built to race specs internally so the extra air flow really bumps the power. Total cost was something like $1500. Can you get 400 hp from a Ford 289 for $1500. Or a small block Chevy?

He has done a bit more than just bolt on a carb to get 400+ hp out of a 500 motor. If there is no dyno sheet as hard proof, it didn't happen...
If it is true, please post the info as to how as there will be thousands of people wanting to do this.
Cheers,
Drew
